Nampa Shed Removal Services
Nampa's residential lots run bigger than a lot of what you'll find elsewhere in the Treasure Valley, and that extra space usually comes with something built on it. Old Nampa's craftsman bungalows and kit houses sit on alley-loaded blocks where a shed or small outbuilding has been part of the property since the place was built. Newer subdivisions in North Nampa, and the HOA communities toward Lake Lowell, have their own version: a prefab shed from a big box store, usually still in decent shape. Manufactured-home communities around the city add a third pattern, with sheds doubling as storage for equipment that won't fit inside.
Taking one down and clearing the site works differently depending on what's actually there. It isn't just hauling. It means knowing what's worth keeping, sorting debris correctly, and understanding where it's actually allowed to go once it leaves the property.
What's usually inside an older Nampa shed
In the historic core, sheds and small outbuildings from the earlier bungalow era often carry original wood siding, older hardware, and sometimes wiring that was never meant to carry modern loads. That wiring should get identified and shut off before anyone starts pulling boards, not treated as debris after the fact.
Sheds in newer subdivisions and manufactured-home communities tend to be simpler: OSB or metal panel construction, a few shelves, maybe a riding mower or yard equipment stored inside. Less to sort through, but still worth a quick look before it all goes in one pile.
- Vintage hinges, latches and trim from older sheds — often worth saving or donating before the rest comes down
- Metal roofing and siding — scraps out instead of getting landfilled with the rest of the debris
- Dimensional lumber in solid condition — reusable for smaller projects instead of hauled off
- Older wiring or anything electrical — flagged and shut off before demolition starts
- Riding mowers or stored equipment — pulled out and separated, not bagged in with general debris
Where the material actually goes
Canyon County residential debris goes to Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill, south of Nampa toward Lake Lowell and Melba. It takes household and residential clean-up waste from Canyon and Owyhee county residents, along with construction and demolition debris, so a standard shed teardown is squarely within what it's built to handle.
Clean wood and green waste each go in their own pile there, and each carries its own fee, which is one of the reasons sorting on-site before the dump run makes a difference. Metal roofing and anything like a riding mower or old appliance goes to the metal pile instead of the general debris pile, and tires are accepted up to a set number per load for a fee. Refrigeration units need the fee paid for proper handling, not tossed in with regular debris.
What it won't take: a driveable, licensed vehicle, a motor home, or hazardous waste. Loads also have to be covered and secured on the way in — that's Canyon County code, not just a landfill preference, and an uncovered load carries its own fee. The landfill does hold a free day each year for a set amount per household, and posted hours run shorter on weekends, so timing a load matters.
What the city covers, and where it stops
Nampa residents get bulky item pickup through Republic Services for an additional fee, covering furniture, mattresses, and appliances once the Freon's been removed. It has to be scheduled ahead rather than same-day.
The city also runs free cleanup periods each year — one in spring, one right after the holidays — where bulky items and non-Freon appliances go out at no cost. That's useful for clearing what's stored inside a shed before it comes down, but it isn't built for structural debris, lumber, or roofing.
Yard waste rules are tight on top of that: bundled limbs have to be short, light, and capped at a limited number each week, with no separate yard-waste cart for anything bigger. A shed teardown produces more debris than that program is designed to take in one go.
Taking down an actual structure, rather than just clearing out what's stored in one, also needs a demolition permit through the city's Building Safety & Code office — a separate step from anything the curbside or cleanup programs handle.
The city's programs are built for what's inside a shed, not for taking the structure itself down, sorting what comes off it, and getting it to the right place. If you've got a shed or outbuilding in Nampa that needs to come down, Boise Shed Removal can walk the site and give you a free estimate.
